10/18/2023 Map Stopped Working?
Visit this post for the fix
Hello all,
I recently moved and have been trying to connect my sectional to my new wifi network via Berrylan but have been unsuccessful. Initially I could not get Berrylan to display any available bluetooth devices, but I eventually learned that that was a permissions issue on my phone. I am now running into a problem where Berrylan does not completely display the Pi as an available device. The Pi shows up under my phone's bluetooth settings as LiveSectionalV4, however on the Berrylan app there is always one device that does not have a name which I assume should be the Pi. When I try to connect to the blank device it always gets stuck on the "Connecting to your Raspberry Pi" screen before eventually failing. I have attempted the connection using two different Android phones with no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm eager to get the sectional up and running again.
Thanks,
Nathan
I don't see it listed there either. I do know that Berrylan will turn Bluetooth on for a short period each time the RPi is starting up. So try rebooting and then go into your phone's app to see if you see your RPi listed.
If that doesn't work, you can setup your WiFi manually. You will need to have a monitor and keyboard connected to your RPi to do this. Boot up your RPi to the command line prompt. Then type;
sudo raspi-config
Select 'System Options' then 'Wireless LAN'.
Select the county you are in, then enter your Wifi's SSID then the Password for your WiFi. When you exit out it will prompt you to reboot so say 'Yes'. Once it reboots it will use the new SSID and Password you entered.
Let us know how it goes. - Mark
Hello Mark,
I tried Berrylan once more and got the same result, the RPI not showing up as an available device and no connection could be made. I tried setting up the wifi manually three times and that didn't work either. Each time I tried, the Livesectional program would keep running and the screen would get filled with the "Internet not available" message so I'm not sure if I was even typing the SSID and password correctly. On reboot I would also keep getting the "Internet not available" message. Is there a way to stop the program from running while I get the wifi configured? I'm sorry if this is an easy fix, I have almost no experience running things from the command line.
Thanks for your help!
