10/18/2023 Map Stopped Working?
Visit this post for the fix
Hello,
I had a setup with a Pi Zero 2 W working until I think the Zero died. I purchased a pi 3 B+ and installed the latest image from the live sectional downloads page.
I plug it in with my official rasp pi power supply, see a solid red light, then get green flashes (5 slow, 7 fast?) plugging into the HDMI port I never get any display to see the boot process.
I’ve edited the config to hdmi safe on by removing the “#” and saving the config file. Still no luck. I’ve tried multiple monitors, cable configurations.
I’ve tried redownloading and imaging using etcher with the same results. I’ve also tried inserting the MicroSD card into a working ADSB pi 3 B+ with the same results.
Additionally, I installed the raspberry OS 64 bit and it works fine (boot, video, etc) with this pi/powersupply/hdmi monitor. I ran the sudo apt updates and everything was up to date. Reinserted the live sectional image with the same non-booting results.
Any ideas?
Hi, disconnect everything from the RPi and with a monitor connected, reboot. If you see the software output showing that the software is working, then there is an issue with your wiring. If you get no output on the monitor as you mentioned, then the problem is between the SD card, software and/or RPI. Let me know what you find. We'll try to help as best we can. - Mark
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the reply!
So I've been trying this just with the Pi, the official Pi power supply (from a working identical Pi 3 B+), and an hdmi cable.
What's strange is this identical setup boots and works as configured (boot, hdmi output, peripherals with the only difference being the image. I took the microSD, imaged rasp pi OS 64-bit, and installed the MicroSD back into the setup and it works.
Troubleshooting so far:
- I remove the 32 GB microSD, use balenaEtcher to image the "Preconfigured LiveSectional V4.503 Raspberry Pi Image For Raspberry Pi 4B, 3B+, 3B, 2B, and ZeroW" and install the microSD card back in. I get no boot/HDMI output.
- I removed the 32GB MicroSD, install Rasp OS 64-bit using the Raspberry Pi Imager V1.8.5. Install the Micro SD back into the pi and it boots up, and provides HDMI output removed link
- I remove the same MicroSD and install the V4.503 Preconfigured image using Balena Etcher, then install it back into the Pi with the same behavior.
- I tried another 128GB microSD card with the livesectional image with the same results. I tried redownloading the image, both have the same bytes, and tried to image with the new downloaded copy with no results.
- I've also tried using the MicroSD in a working identical model Pi 3 B+ thats operating an ADSB exchange.
- Not to say that the image is bad, as I'm sure there's hundreds of others that have downloaded it just fine, but with my limited experience, the image is the only difference I can tell between a successful boot and the issue I'm running into.
- I download the file, it comes as a zip... Extract it, then take the image and use balenaetcher to write it to the microSD.
I'd guess I'm doing something incorrectly, but can't determine what's causing the image to not result in a bootable base Pi.
Any suggestions?
